No irony here

Why I love (my) boys:

1.Because they are childish their whole life through.
2.Because they are strong and tough.
3.Because they fall in love and forget all about No.2.
4.Because they are loyal.
5.Because they are afraid to say I love you but give themselves so adorably away.
6. Because they are smart and ambitious and aren't afraid of what life can get one.
7. Because they don't complain, but are still sensible enough to care.
8. Because they drunk-call. Or drunk-email. Or drunk-sms. And drunk-blog :>.
9. Because they fight to be happy and never give up.
10. Because they are sincere in a touching way, and insincere in a way that makes you want to hug them.

On deeper thought, that's why I love (my) girls too.

Big test, little mouse

-This afternoon a huge test awaits me.
-Tell me more.
-They will test if I can hold apart several tastes of cokes.
-Cool!
-Light-zero-normal coca-cola. Light-normal pepsi. Some local brands.
-Can you?
-If I can, I will be very glamorous.
-You already are glamorous.

So let's keep our fingers crossed for the little mouse, who has a big test ahead of him.

Still, it remains a fact that the little mouse is very glamorous, with or without the test. So you know.

Love-hate

Which reminded me: as a complete non-believer in Valentine's day, I fiercely searched for fellow haters.

The mouse was -as always-genius:

"I spent Valentine's day with the person dearest to me. With myself. It's a love-hate relationship, sometimes we have great fights, but most of the times we get along pretty well."

That's why I'm a fool for mice.

New into my life

Another beautiful quote from the little mouse today: “I think contemporary people over-emphasize the meaning of life”, he said, following a conversation we had about one wanting more for himself, and wanting even more for his/her children. “People are consuming life to the bone”, he followed, and I knew that no matter what followed, he had said it all.

Yes, and if we can’t have it all, we look for completion in others.

The turtle had told me today that he wanted a partner to be the opposite of him.

And I am sorry I couldn’t reply to him that we only can find completion inside ourselves and never in others. It’s a tremendous weight to put on a relationship when waiting for the other to be everything or parts of what we are not. And it always leads to disappointment and greave, because you find that the other can never rise up to what you expect and miss.

The mouse asked me why I couldn’t say that to the turtle. I don’t really know. Maybe because the turtle is new in my blog and in my life. Maybe because it hasn’t occurred to me then that it was what I wanted to say. Maybe because in certain matters I am also guilty as charged.

HERO OF THE DAY: The little mouse. Too bad there will be no other little mice anymore. But then again, his uniqueness is what makes him so special.

Thoughts of a deer one

"I cannot help but thinking that the relationships to the ones we love is a matter of random. I know one of them is my boyfriend and the other one my best friend, but sometimes I think that, had I met them in a reverse order, the friend would have been the boyfriend and vice-versa."

What the deer said arose serious thinking in me. And I wanted to disagree, in order to not lose hope that life has a sense after all, and matters come in an order established in advance or determined by our own actions.

But still, somewhere, a little demon kept whispering to me, that she could be right. That we live and feel randomly after all. It's a lesson of humility to know that we are not that powerful and our relationships have at least one element which is out of our reach. Sometimes, when we get lucky, the random element comes into our aid - then we meet people like the little mouse and the monkey, and even, sometimes, a duck we can fall in love with. But then again, some random meetings with some random eagle make us ask "What if...". Then life suddenly doesn't make that much sense anymore, does it?

Little deep friendship

Later edit: The little mouse read my last post and knew exactly what, and more than that, whom I was talking about in the first place. He read through me just like the knife cuts through butter.

Strangely, I felt glad. I don't feel confortable with being closed up towards other people and I don't make a fuss out of being alone and misunderstood.

Seeing the mouse guess exactly into my soul made me feel awkwardly confortable, a feeling similar to that when an old friend busts into your home unannounced, when the house is dirty and the bed is unmade, but you don't care shit about that because you are so glad to see him again.

HERO OF THE DAY: The little mouse, for reasons that are self explanatory.

Little black hole.

Big discussion with the little mouse today, about private moments and antisocial days*.
Well, people just don't understand to leave you alone, he said. The first two times I ask them gently to go away, then i yell "Get the fuck out of my head!".

Get out of my head! I like that. I often ask people gently to get out of my head. If it depends on them, they sometimes go and leave me alone, but then again, they don't really get out of my head, do they? Because my mind is a big black hole, sucking up every character and every word that came across it and never letting it go again but for some hints made as to the pets i adore.

So i guess getting out of my sight is easy, my dears, but once you are inside my heart and my mind, there's no easy way out.

* Antisocial days are those days when you want to crawl in a hole and stay there alone with your thoughts. Usually, people don't understand the meaning of an antisocial day, and they keep bothering you with questions and trying to cheer you up. Big mistake! We all want to be alone sometimes, don't we?

About the birds and the bees

Oo, six years is a very long time, the little mouse said, when I told him how I have chatted with the bear today, and the bear and I go waaay back. We broke up some six years ago, I told him, and sometimes it's still awkward when we talk.

Like today. Talking to the bear was like wrapping my mind in rubber gloves. I had to pay attention all the time, because I had the feeling that I would scare him off if we got too personal or if I asked him some nice and private question that comes from the heart, like: "So how are you?"

So we kept chatting about work and school and about easy and difficult and funny things in our lives, paying attention not to get too personal. Why that was? I dunno. But it was a pity, because we used to have this great connection.

Being so concentrated to not offend him in any way and not to give him the impression that I wanted to pick up where we left, I failed to tell him the one thing that was important: "It was nice talking to you again".

Guess friendship and pride are no match after all.

UPDATE: I talked to the bear again this evening. It was like old times, we had a lot of fun and couldn't stop laughing. It was nice putting pride in a drawer and just being friends again.

Your girl is lovely, Hubbell!

Today, i finally decided to watch "The way we were". [It's this funny little habit I have: every Saturday I celebrate the weekend with an early-morning-movie. Helps a lot, staying in bed 'til noon]. It reminded me of some question the little mouse popped a while ago:

Do we have the right to consider someone like our own? To claim propriety over people just because we happen to love them?

Tough one.

Of course the politically correct answer involves words like "personal freedom", "you can't force someone to love you", "people don't change" and many many more. They sound well, and more than that, they look well as they drop out on the screen, acting as a mirror of the tolerant, open-minded and free spirited persons that we are.

Errr...Here's the thing: I don't know about you guys, but I've been on both sides, so I wouldn't be confortable with throwing with oppinions in the world..

And still, being able to let go after all, and in spite of the dreadfull feeling of losing, dear Katies and Hubbells all over the world, places you in the collective memory (or at least in the individual memory of one person, if you don't have the luck have your story filmed) as the absolute winner in a no-win situation.

Hmm, top that!

The daily kitsch that keeps us alive

Well, the little mouse said, kitsch is ok if it's your own. And if it makes you happy.
And I couldn't help but empathize with him. Kitsch is all arround us: too many cars on the road - let's pretend we are rich, too much noise in the streets - let's make ourselves heard, too much personal disclosure in the media - let's make reality a show, too many words out there when there's nothing to say - let's pretend we care.
But as long as you really feel it, the day to day kitsch makes - our little cute arte du savoir vivre.
